Ottawa medical and dental clinics had a notable Q1: AI Overviews now appear on 58% of commercial-investigation health queries (the highest of any vertical we track), and Map Pack volatility for 'family doctor accepting new patients' queries hit a 2-year high in February. Here's what we saw and what to do about it.
AI Overviews are present on 58% of commercial health queries in our Ottawa sample — far ahead of trades (24%) or hospitality (28%). Google is heavily hedging by citing 5-6 sources per Overview. This is the largest AI engine visibility opportunity in any Ottawa vertical right now.
Clinics with linked physician bios, clear credentials disclosure, FAQPage schema on every service page, and quarterly-refreshed content are dominating. Pages without a named physician author are largely invisible to AI Overviews even when they rank top-5 organically.
(1) Add a clearly-attributed physician author to every service page with a link to their full bio. (2) Add FAQPage schema to every service page (insurance accepted, intake hours, languages spoken, etc.). (3) Publish a 'last reviewed by [physician name] on [date]' line on every cornerstone page.
AI Overviews cover 58% of Ottawa commercial health queries — highest of any vertical.
Map Pack volatility on family-doctor queries hit a 2-year high in Feb 2026.
Pages without a named physician author are invisible to AI Overviews.
FAQPage schema + linked physician bios + quarterly refresh is the winning combo.
