Google updated Shopping ad creative requirements for Canadian advertisers on April 7, 2026: lifestyle imagery is now eligible (in addition to product-on-white), short-form 6-second video assets are surfacing in shopping carousels, and the bilingual EN/FR feed pairing is more strictly enforced for Quebec impressions.
Canadian advertisers can now submit lifestyle product imagery (model + product, in-context use) alongside the standard product-on-white. Early performance data: lifestyle-image SKUs are seeing 11-18% higher click-through rates in the first two weeks. We strongly recommend running both formats and letting Google rotate.
Google now suppresses English-only product titles for impressions originating in Quebec at a much higher rate than before. Bilingual feeds (or a separate French feed via the supplemental feed feature) are now functionally required for Quebec performance — single-language feeds will under-deliver in the QC market.
(1) Add lifestyle imagery to your top 100 SKUs in Merchant Center. (2) Build a French supplemental feed for Quebec coverage. (3) Pilot 6-second video assets on your top-10 SKUs and let Google rotate them in.
